The Lakeside Restaurant at Lake Moodemere Estate also boasts a welcoming open fire. Executive chef, Jarrod Smith, utilises lamb born and bred on the Chambers’ family property in his Mediterranean-inspired dishes made with produce sourced locally. Taste Estate grown, single-vineyard wines in the cellar door before settling in for a long lunch.

It wouldn’t be winter without enjoying a Bobbie Burns Shiraz from Campbell’s Wines. At Campbell’s cellar door, you will receive a warm welcome and an invitation to try their award-winning wines, including muscats and topaques. Side up to the open fire, and contemplate which dozen or half dozen to take home and savour.
Just around the corner a short hop, skip and jump away, you will find Andrew Buller Wines cellar door in the beautiful, century-old Cannobie Homestead. A property of this kind would not be complete without an open fire; it is how the pioneers of the district braced themselves over the winter months. At Andrew Buller Wines, the open fire is in the cellar door meaning you can taste and explore the full range of estate-grown wines basking in the warmth.
Valhalla Wines’ straw bale winery also boasts a freestanding cast iron fire which you can enjoy while tasting one of owner, vigneron and winemaker, Anton Therkildsen’s premium wines. Valhalla Wines is located ten minutes drive from Rutherglen on the All Saints Road.
