Stanton’s Bend

Moodemere Road Rutherglen 3685

Stanton’s Bend is a large popular reserve just a few kilometres to the west of Rutherglen. An attractive setting on a wide expanse of river ‘Stanton’s’ is popular with visitors and locals alike. A long stretch of sandy river beach offers safe swimming (the usual Murray River warnings apply), and the low cliffs rising just downstream of the reserve makes for a stunning visual backdrop.

How to get there

Accessed via Moodemere Road which is signposted off the Murray Valley Highway 8.6km east of Raitts Road and 5.4km west of Rutherglen.  Follow Moodemere Road 4km to entrance.  Follow the main track which loops around the river with dispersed bush camping along the river. {Lewis, C. Savage, C. 2013, ‘Camping & Caravaning guide to the Murray River’, 2nd edition, Boiling Billy Publications, Nimmitabel, NSW, p. 101}
